This centerpiece, like most of architect Zaha Hadid's work, is "like or hate". If you're considering this centerpiece, you obviously in the "like" category. While I admit I'm not as passionate about her buildings (though I like them), I was completely enamored by the design of this work (which fit perfectly into the dining room of my new house). Each section acts as a small bowl, and are ideal for dry things like nuts or candies --or to be left empty and kept just as is. The manufacturing quality is top notch, like most things done by Alessi. The five pieces are well packaged, and you'll probably need to look at the photo to put them together correctly. It's fairly big, so make sure to take into account the dimensions listed. I absolutely love this piece.

For a future design classic, look no further than this affordable centerpiece constructed of interposable black melamine elements. Five separate dishes make up this piece, which can be nested or arranged in multiple configurations. Ridges emerge and pull away from the horizontal plane of the table top. Design: Zaha Hadid, 2009 for Alessi, Italy. Approximate size: 24" x 12" x 2.75"
