Department 56 Display Anywhere Retrofit Unit Review

(More customer reviews)This item is a battery operated light source to fit Department 56 buildings. It is basically a plastic tube that takes 4 AAA batteries and on one end of the tube are two tiny light bulbs which might be halogen bulbs (?). There is an wire on the other end that sticks out of the building that leads to an on/off switch. On the other end (light bulb end) there is a connection for an optional remotely operated on/off system which I did not buy.
This item gets two stars for the idea of not having to wrestle with the standard cords that stick out of the buildings and trail to a wall socket. This makes the setup of your display very easy, and safer because there is no chance of accidentally snagging a cord and pulling a building off a table. Plus, as the product description notes, you can display your buildings anywhere without worrying about an electrical socket. The big flaw of this product is the light bulbs. They are exceedingly bright and focused. I tried this thing in three different buildings with different unsatisfactory results: Bldg 1 was a one story building with a row of windows. After standing back to look at the effect I was blinded by the brilliant white light that came out of the right hand side of the building, while the windows on the left were very dim. Bldg 2 was a church with windows on the bottom and a steeple with a window on the top. The bottom windows illuminated nicely, the steeple windows were completely dark. Bldg 3 was a small house which was not deep enough for the light tube. Upon inserting the tube into the house the bulbs were flush against the front wall of the house where I could nearly see through the walls, while the remainder of the house was relatively dark.
This is a great idea, and the product would have received five stars if D56 had only stuck with the night-light type of bulbs. Except for the cords which are a pain the night lights work fine, giving the buildings a soft glow which reaches every window regardless of their placement in the building.

2628 Double Pail 19 Qt. Review

The professional janitor's buckets were too expensive at more than $100 a pop. It is a nice, sturdy bucket. It holds enough water to get the job done yet is not too heavy to carry even with both sides nearly full of water. The two sides keep the clean and dirty water separate. It is easier than running back to the sink to wring the mop out if you have a lot of hard floors in the house to mop. The only thing I would change is to offer a model with wheels on the bottom.

Hallmark has been exceptional in the sculptural quality of their ornaments. So why does this ornament- a tribute to one of the most classic movies ever made have no name plate and Kong stands on atop a building that doesn't resemble the Empire State Building in the slightest? Movie buffs like me want the item to be faithful to the film. Now they've gone and released a disappointing figure from one of my favorite movies and done a sorry job of it. Kongs ok- but the base really lets me down.

They work fairly well but very noisy at night with mouse inside so you have to get up. This Eaton one is the best so far. But, go to Eaton and buy it there - less shipping. Amazon charges a fortune to ship. Mice go in, stay in and it's quiet until you are ready to release. This one is a keeper.

(More customer reviews)I don't care for silicone products and searched high and low for a rubber scrapper. I used the old Rubbermaid rubber scrapper for years and needed a replacement. Well, these are much more like silicone than rubber!!! They are not very flexible like a true rubber product. Apparently no one makes the old-fashioned rubber type scrappers any more. I don't like these at all and probably won't use them. Also, I was expecting one package containing three scrappers in different sizes. You actually get three packages of three each!! So I have a total of 9 (nine) scrappers!! This was not at all clear in the ad copy. They also seem low quality as the handles are very light weight and not sturdy. Very disappointed in this ECKO product. They used to be much better quality.

2x4basics AnySize Chair or Bench Ends, Sand Review

(More customer reviews)I just finished assembling a 2x4basics AnySize Bench 11200 and am very happy with it. The bench assembly took a little longer than I thought it would. I think I worked on it for about two hours. I wasn't counting on having to drill pilot holes for the dozens of screws (included) that had to be used putting the bench together. Nor did I figure on spending so much time figuring out how to best sink the screws into the underside of the boards. Don't worry about slanting the screws into the wood a bit. It is impossible to get a drill into a perfect position for making a 90 degree hole. Most of the screws do not show anyhow.
It was necessary to tip the bench over in order drill pilot holes and to get at the screws. I had to clamp the 2x4's to the plastic/composite ends to keep them from falling off or moving out of position. I would recommend using a couple of small carpentry clamps to hold things in place while putting the bench together.

I had the 2x4's sanded and painted prior to attaching them to the plastic/composite ends so that took a little time, but probably not more than an additional hour. That probably saved time in the long run. Making this bench with the 2x4 basics kit is not a difficult project.
The 2x4 basics bench is solid and not all that heavy, but it isn't going to blow over in a high wind. I am quite satisfied with how the bench came out and somewhat surprised at how substantial it is. I thought it might twist and perhaps wiggle side to side--nope, it is a rock.
I am so pleased with this approach to building patio furniture that I will be recommending the product to friends.
