Ok, first of all, I do not work for Howard's and I have zero affiliation to the company. I posted a question/issue on several different wordwooding forums looking for some help on polishing up the 3rd coat of semi-gloss oil polyurethane I had applied to my dining room table top (solid oak with mahogany border). The coat dried relatively flat, but had many hazy spots and overall was moderately rough to the touch. So I was debating over sanding again with 0000 steel wool and applying a 4th coat to see if I can get it to go on more smoothly or if I could just somehow buff it out with a polishing agent. Pretty much across the board, almost all wood 'professionals' said that I would need to sand with a high grit paper and lay another coat. It's almost like nobody knows about this product.
I happened upon this bottle of burnishing cream at my local hardware store decided to give it a try. After testing it on a small area, I was immediately impressed. So I proceeded to polish / buff out the entire table top. Wow! The result is incredible! Now my dull, hazy, rough textured coat of poly has turned into a glossy, smooth as silk mirror like surface.
It takes a lot of hard work and elbow grease (cotton cloth wipe on / buff out method), but it is worth it if you want the shine. Now my 'semi-gloss' is glossier than most 'clear gloss' polys.
