If you have a rigid heddle in mind to get off the ground and/or for economic purposes, I can assure you that you will only be satisfied for a short time. You need to dive in and apply that money towards the cost of this professional tool.
You can still learn and use the simple patterns with just two harnesses. And when you are ready to graduate to four harnesses you will have them. There are many books that stop at four harness drafts. The size and wheels make this a perfect tool to take to classes or demos. 22" is good enough for many projects. After mastering the basics you can actually make 44" items by folding your weaving. For the more adventurous you can even make clothing. It will take time to out grow this exquisite weaving machine.
When it comes time to expand your equipment, buy a bench or just select your next project, Harrisville will be there.
